Peacefull Warriors

Jane Phillips Elementary School Peacefull Warriors participating in a weekly session.

What is a Peacefull Warrior?

He's a young man in 4th to 5th grade who is engaged in learning the fundamentals of self-control and stress-reduction at school via:

  • Mindful Breathing
  • Group discussion
  • Expressive writing
  • Self-protective Fitness & Endurance
  • Inspirational videos
  • learning in a Golden Rule context

The program is rooted in helping youngsters respect each other as well as themselves. Peacefull Warriors is taught at several area schools.

Who leads these activities?

Westside Community Center Staff and Assigned Volunteers.

Who funds these activities?

The Bartlesville community funds Peacefull Warriors through its support of the Bartlesville United Way.

What is its impact on our students and community?

For over 10 years, from over 200 local boys have spent 16-18 hours involved in Peacefull Warrior activities during their school year. The result has been a significant reduction in bullying in these groups. We've helped keep 90% of them in class learning rather than in time-out or suspension.

School administrators and teachers unanimously agree that the Peacefull Warriors program has a made a positive impact on their students.

What else does Peacefull Warriors offer?

We host seasonal Peacefull Pizza parties at WCC with the help of Pizza Hut and Peacefull Warrior Summer Activities.

Our goal is to provide this service for all interested area schools.
